About

We build the layer that doesn't depend on anyone remembering.

ClassLock started with a question that would not go away: offices, hospitals and government buildings have used credentialed doors for thirty years. Why are the rooms where our children spend the day the only ones still open to whoever walks down the hall?

Mission

Every classroom door, locked by default, open to the people who belong there.

Every official investigation of a school attack ends up at a door. A door that was propped. A door with a lock that was reported broken and never fixed. A substitute teacher without a key. A teacher who stepped into the hallway to lock the door and did not come back. The pattern is not a hardware failure. It is the reasonable, predictable failure of asking people to do a security job under the worst stress of their lives.

ClassLock removes the person from the loop. The school already knows, to the minute, who is supposed to be in every room. We turn that knowledge into a door that is already locked, opens with a tap for the right people, and never, ever locks anyone in.

We are deliberately not building a surveillance company. No cameras, no AI watching students, no body scanners. A door that works.

Company

Modus Novus, Inc.

ClassLock is a product of Modus Novus, Inc. The system and method for context‑aware classroom access control is the subject of a U.S. non‑provisional patent application filed in September 2025 (patent pending).

How we work with schools

  • We design the system and the software and certify local installers.
  • Your existing door‑hardware or access‑control contractor installs it.
  • Your fire marshal reviews it. We supply the package.
  • We measure results in drills and climate surveys, and publish what districts allow.

Investors and partners

Modus Novus is building ClassLock with its founders' capital and its first pilot districts. We welcome conversations with investors, door‑hardware and access‑control manufacturers, and integrators who want to be part of the first deployments. Write to info@getclasslock.com or use the contact form and choose "Investor or partner conversation".

Press and podcasts

Talk with us about classroom doors

We are available for interviews, panels and podcasts on school safety, access control, life‑safety codes and the economics of security technology. Our founders can speak to why detection‑based systems have under‑delivered, what the investigations of Uvalde, Parkland, Oxford and Apalachee have in common, and what it takes to get a classroom‑door project through a fire marshal.
